The City of Carmi issued a proclamation this week recognizing next week, Jan. 20 through the 26th as Carmi School Choice Week.
Carmi Mayor Jeff Pollard signed the proclamation which basically states, school choice week is celebrated across the country be millions of students, parents, educators, school and organizations to raise awareness of the need for effective educational options.
The proclamation also stated “the City of Carmi recognizes the important role that an effective education plays in preparing all students to become successful adults and where quality education is critically important to the economic vitality of Carmi, and educational variety not only helps the diversify our economy, but also enhances the vibrancy of our community.”
The proclamation contained a number of whereas, seven to be exact, including all children in the City of Carmi should have access to the highest quality education possible.
