January 15 2019 – Carmi City Council Report

With no action items on the agenda, the Carmi City Council whipped through it’s regular meeting Tuesday night in less than ten minutes, which might be a record for brevity when it comes to municipal meetings.

And while the meeting was brief, the council did take care of routine matters, such as approving vendor invoices and the financial reports for the City and the Light and Water departments. The minutes were approved with a slight correction pointed out good-naturedly by Alderman Steve Winkleman.

In reports, Carmi Mayor Jeff Pollard had good news for motorists who regularly travel over the Fifth Street railroad crossing, saying that it will be repaired in the near future.

The Mayor also reminded area residents of a recycling day coming up in February, reminding people NOT to drop off any items prior to the actual recycling day.

The Council normally meets the first and third Monday of each month, generally for a little longer than ten minutes. The meetings are open to the public.
