Sheriff Responds to Domestic Violence Call

Sheriff Called to Scene of Domestic Violence

White County Sheriff Doug Maier responded to a report of domestic violence at 405 Hammel Street, Crossville this past Wednesday.

According to the incident report, the sheriff arrived to find Tara M. Johnson, 31 of 405 Rudolph Street, Crossville, outside the Hammel Street residence. The report indicated Johnson had been in a confrontation at the home after checking on her child.

The report indicated Johnson was having difficulty talking and appeared to be under the influence of some substance. When asked about, she admitted to taking the prescription drug Klonopen.

Sgt. Craig Poole than arrived to assist the sheriff. Poole stayed with Johnson while Maier spoke to the residents of the house.

It was determined that Johnson was in no condition to have children in her care. She was transported to the City County jail in Carmi, where the sheriff contacted Egyptian Health Department and Department of Children and Family Services.

The report indicated Johnson’s father arrived to pick up the children and representatives of the health department arrived to talk to Johnson, who refused treatment at that time.
