Busy Week for White County Sheriff Department
It was a busy week for the White County Sheriff’s Department, starting last Tuesday, when Cierra B. Parker of Shipley Street, Carmi, filed an assault charge against Jame L. Parker of the same address. The charge was filed just before 5 am. Tuesday.
The sheriff’s office also received a report of a stolen highway barricade on Tuesday, Brian Ray, White County Highway Engineer filed that report around 9 Tuesday morning. The barricade was on County Road 2050 North, when it was taken.
Wednesday, Tracy L. Tolley of 108 Sacramento Street, Enfield reported the theft of a 1984 homemade flatbed cargo trailer. Tolley indicated the theft occurred sometime overnight Wednesday. That investigation continues.
Thursday morning around 10, Jeffrey R. Cox, rural Crossville reported the theft and damage to farm equipment located on County Road 2250 East, Crossville. Taken in the incident were two radiators, a Honda water pump and a hydraulic cylinder on a disc. There was damage to a 955 Cat at the site. The radiators were taken from two vehicles. Cox said the theft and damage could have occurred over the past weeks, as he noted the equipment was fine in late September.
Melissa A. Trout of rural Carmi, reported a burglary Thursday afternoon. She indicated a debit card was stolen from her residence. Trout named a suspect in the incident, with that information turned over to the State’s Attorney’s office for consideration.
Thursday afternoon, William Kurt Pierce of Mt. Vernon, Ill, reported the theft of furniture, stereo equipment, and tools, all valued at $8,000 had been taken from an abandoned residence in Springerton. Pierce advised authorities he had moved from the location and since then a number of items were missing from the residence.
Friday morning, Matthew R. Curtis of Enfield and Holly Jo Curtis of Carmi, reported the theft of a number of items from a residence in Enfield, there were moving from. That investigation also continues.
Saturday morning around 3, local authorities responded to a report of a vehicle in backwater near Springerton. Joe A. Carrell told authorities he had driven into the backwater, causing his vehicle to stall and leave him stranded in the high water. Upon assisting Carrell to safety, it was decided to have the vehicle towed when the water subsided.
Sunday, the sheriff’s office received a report of battery filed by Corenea Faye of Grayville after an incident at Patti Hyatt’s residence in Crossville. That incident also remains under investigation.
