Festival of Tree Winner Announced
The inaugural Nan-Jan Craft and Vendor Fair, held Saturday at the Washington Attendance Center Gym, along with the Wabash Chapter of the Daughters of American Revolution Festival of Trees was an outstanding success.
Organizers, Nancy Mitchell and Jan Carlson, who had combined the two events in an effort to restore interest in the DAR’s Festival of Trees, said it “looked like it worked.”
They explained there were quite a few trees entered and the top vote getter was the Carmi League of Art’s entry. Their tree was a tribute to the late Betty Brown, who was the League’s director and mentor for a number of years.
There was a steady flow of customers checking out the items offered by the vendors, and that included everything from soaps to clothes to hand-made baskets.
Many of the vendors will be participating in this weekend’s vendor and craft show at the Floral Hall at the White County Fairgrounds in Carmi. WROY/WRUL news will have additional details on that show on later newscast this week.
