White County Christmas Events Continue

White County Christmas Events Continue

Its A White County Christmas is a long-standing tradition here in Carmi that features a number of special events including the White County Christmas Parade and the official arrival of Santa Claus.

The event has often been held the weekend after Thanksgiving but there has always been a bit of a controversy over holding it that weekend or the first weekend of December. This year, most events, including Santa’s arrival and the parade will be held Saturday, Dec. 1.

However there are a couple events planned for the Saturday after Thanksgiving

Nancy Mitchell and Jan Carlson are coordinating the craft fair, which will be held Saturday from 9 until 2 p.m. at Washington Attendance Center. Mitchell said there are about 20 vendors signed up at this time for the craft fair.
She also said Mark Rogers and the Appetizers are tentatively planning to provide some musical entertainment during the craft fair.

Carlson and Mitchell, both members of the Daughters of American Revolution, urged everyone to stop by Washington Attendance Center, explaining by combining the craft fair with the Wabash Chapter of DAR’s annual Festival of Trees was a way of possibly generating new interest in the Festival of Trees. They said there are a number of participants  planning on displaying fully decorated Christmas trees during the craft fair.

There will be another craft and vendor fair set for Dec. 1 at the White County Fairgrounds Floral hall. That fair, coordinated by Kendra Carter will be helping to raise funds for the Kids and Cops program, that pairs kids in need with a member of the FOP for a shopping trip before Christmas. WROY/WRUL News will have additional details on the Dec. 1 vendor fair on future newscast.
