Adopt A Vet Presented to Grayville Council

Adopt a Vet presented to Grayville Council

The Grayville City Commissioners met this week, a day later than normal due to the Veteran’s Day observance.

The commissioners covered a number of items including the approval of a TIF funding request by the Grayville Community Unit School District 1, for an upgrade of their intercom system at a cost of just over $2800.

A TIF agreement was also approved with Hammell Properties, who own M & S Tire. The tire shop has plans to sell to Best One Tire.

Tax levy estimates were presented and the council voted to keep the levy the same as last year, so there is no need to print a truth in taxation statement.

The commissioners agreed to replace a lift station pump at a cost of just over $7600. A resolution authorizing the purchase of natural gas and an amendment to the Utility gas management agreement was also approved.

The city’s sexual harassment policy was updated as required by the state.

The council also heard from Donovan Baldwin, who updated the commissioners on the Veteran’s Memorial Project. Baldwin reported one phase was completed just before Veteran’s Day. He explained the Adopt a Vet program where people can purchase bricks for those known to have served as far back as the Revolutionary War. Baldwin said that promotion will continue.

The Grayville Council normally meets the second and fourth Monday of each month.
