Foundation Awards Thousands in 4-H Scholarships
The Illinois 4-H Foundation increased its annual support of college scholarships, awarding 17 $1,000 scholarships to 4-H members.
Angie Barnard, Foundation Executive Director said, “our donors are generous and believe that higher education changes lives.”
Illinois 4-H Foundaton presented the Legacy of Leadership Scholarships to 4-H members who have demonstrated and maintained a high standard of 4-H excellence and mastery during their membership tenure. They include Josephine Hubele of White County and Elaine Miller of Hamilton County.
“Through their words and actions, the 4-H members honored with the Legacy of Leadership and Livestock Scholarships have taken their personal leadership skills to the next level by elevating others around them,” said Barnard.
Hubele has participated in many 4-H projects, service projects and leadership positions. Her favorite projects are public speaking, sheep, sewing, hobbies and visual arts. Her animal science project allowed her to work with young members on showing and raising livestock. She hopes to make a difference in rural communities and underprivileged countries.
Elaine Miller of Hamilton County is grateful for the confidence and the great memories provided by her 4-H experiences. She plans to be a labor and delivery nurse. She believes that being involved with her family and community has helped prepare for the future. Miller received a $1,000 scholarship for her 4-H achievements.
