Corn Days Opens Friday
The 91st annual Corn Days celebration will get underway Friday in downtown Carmi with the closing of Main Street around 3 p.m.
The first official event of the festival will be the Women’s Charity Club Pageants at Carmi White County High School, beginning at 5:30 Friday afternoon.
There will also be a corn hole tournament at the First Mid Bank Parking Lot, beginning at 5:30.
Friday night is also gospel night, as the J.J. Weeks Band, will take the Main Stage around 7.
Saturday, opens with the Guardian Center Candy Corn Run at the First Christian Church. The pet parade will be held on Main Street at 10 Saturday morning. The annual Car Show also begins at 10 and will run through about 2 Saturday afternoon.
Mark Rogers and the Appetizers will perform on the Car Show Stage, near First Mid Bank at 10:30.
The White County Historical Society will host corn tasting from 11 a.m. until 1 at the Ratcliff Inn.
The Southern Illinois Showstoppers will entertain on the car show stage at 11:30, with the Corn Days King and Queen to be crowned on that stage at noon. The All-Star Twirlers will then entertain at 1:15 on the Car Show stage.
The annual Corn Days parade, featuring over 90 entries this year will begin at 4.
The final event of the weekend festival will be the performance of popular country band, Parmalee. The group will take the Main stage at 7 to wrap up Corn Days 2018.
