McLeansboro Hires new Police Officer at Special Meeting Thursday

Following the resignation of Kesley Bowman as a full time police officer, the McLeansboro PD was looking for a replacement.  The Police and Fire Committee (made up of Aldermen Biggerstaff and Cox, along with Police Chief Nathan Taylor) made their recommendation known at Thursday’s specially called meeting.  The decision couldn’t wait until the next scheduled February meeting due to the deadline for registration of the next upcoming Police Academy.

City Clerk Fred Vallowe tells WROY/WRUL News the council agreed to hire Chase Partain, effective upon enrollment in the Illinois Academy.  He’ll serve as a full time officer once he completes his training.

Also at the meeting during public comments, Vallowe asked Council to consider direct deposit for the city’s payroll, and also announced upcoming dates for mental health first aid courses, which will be offered through the Hamilton County Health Department.
